Imagining the Internet of Things in the Enterprise – Connected World Column June/July 2014

When a friend recently asked for my perspective on the Internet of Things in the enterprise, I started to drone on with my usual answer about M2M, the Industrial Internet and the smart grid… but that’s when I realized some fresh thinking was needed. How does the new crop of consumer-oriented connected devices such as connected cars, smart watches, heads-up displays and fitness bands intersect with corporate information strategy? How can organizations use these new tools to improve customer service and employee productivity?

Lamberth Moderates “Verticals & Applications” Panel at Telecom Council of Silicon Valley M2M Forum

Laurie Lamberth moderated a panel session at the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley’s Mobile Forum: M2M event on May 2, 2013. Laurie’s panel focused on enterprise vertical markets and enterprise applications for M2M — the territory where mobile M2M got its start in the early 2000’s. Now, a over a decade later, it was a pleasure to share the stage with this group of seasoned M2M professionals to provide their insights on how M2M has evolved over the past decade, what’s hot in M2M now, and what even hotter trends lie just over the horizon.

Mobile Focus: M2M is a daylong conference that explored the rapidly emerging “M2M” or “machine-to-machine” segment of the wireless industry, and reflect’s the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley’s continuing commitment to provide meaningful technology and networking events for the global Silicon Valley.

Mobile Finally Saturates the Enterprise: MobileCON 2012 Recap

Mobile technologies have finally saturated the enterprise, as evidenced by the throngs of corporate CIO’s and other senior executives prowling the exhibit hall and educational sessions at MobileCON 2012 — CTIA’s renamed fall show, held in San Diego September 9-11, 2012. The conference centered on big themes in enterprise mobility, including “bring you own device” (BYOD), machine-to-machine communications (M2M), location-based services (LBS), long-term evolution networks (LTE), automotive applications, mobile payments and more.

Driving Vacation this Summer? Consider the 2011 Edge – Guest appearance on Connected World blog

For a family driving vacation this summer — if you’re planning to defy rising gas prices — head over to Connected World Magazine for my review of the go-to car for family vacations this summer: the 2011 Ford Edge. I had the chance to drive the Edge for two weeks last winter, and found it to be packed full of driver- and family-friendly features, such as the ability to connect multiple music players via Bluetooth to the car’s entertainment system and select routes based on fuel efficiency.
